When Brittany and Reid first met at an open mic night in 2017, we had no idea that it would lead to a second chance at both music and love.
Now, all these years later we are married and sharing our love, passion, and souls through Brittany and the Blisstones.
Our debut album "La La Love" - released in May 2022, features five original Island Indie Pop songs.
We held the release party on the same day as our wedding reception... turned out to not the best idea, but that's a story for another time.
Our debut album got some great reviews ...
“Mermaid” is a stunningly catchy yet soothing island pop song that has hints of Jamaican influences in the beat and the utilization of the trumpet and the ukulele to creates the infectious melody. It has a Billie Holliday musical style meets a Taylor Swift-esque voice.
The lyrics brim with breathtaking imagery and awe-inspiring reflective moments. The music is as majestic as its impressionistic lyrical passages. The song lilts on a vaguely Jamaican pulse and brims with jeweled trumpet melodies, vocals that are sultry and sensitive, lush layers of harmony vocals, and moody chord changes that have a sweet sadness.
“Some Times” is an absolute hypnotic song. The Ukulele and Brittany’s soulful voice transport you to a new headspace and mindset instantly. With a big Ani DiFranco and Vampire Weekend feeling to the song, it’s about being present with yourself and listening to your needs.
When we play live, our songs are not how they are on the album...
We wrote and recorded our debut album "La La Love" during the COVID 19 lockdown, when we couldn't meet up with other musicians in the studio.
To finish the album, we used the internet to hire musicians from all over the world to record the parts we couldn't play ourselves. This is how we got horns, wind, and string instruments on the album.
Once the COVID restrictions relaxed, we put a band together and started to play live! With a different mix of instruments than what we used on the album, some of the parts changed and new ones were created. As we played more shows with our new band, our songs continued to evolve.
